Amazon has taken its biggest step into the world of sustainable goods with the launch of Amazon Aware, a collection of clothing, beauty, bed & bath, and household products designed by an in-house team. They’re dedicated to using recycled or sustainable materials without sacrificing quality or over inflating their price. The products have been certified by organization namely:

Organic Content Standard (OCS)

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is an international, voluntary standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of certified organic input and chain of custody. The objectives are:

  • Provide the industry with a tool to verify the organically grown content of the products they purchase.

  • Provide companies with a trusted tool to communicate organically grown content claims to the industry.

  • Provide organic fiber farmers with broad access to the global organic market for their products.

Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC-Higg)

This is a transparency program (Higg) for disclosing data on a product’s environmental impact, starting with its materials content. The Higg Index transparency program provides a consistent way for brands, retailers, and manufacturers to share trusted data on the environmental impact of their products. A product’s overall materials content is compared to conventionally produced materials in the following categories:

  • Global warming: the amount of the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming, from sources such as energy, soil emissions, and refrigerants

  • Fossil fuels: the amount of non-renewable fossil fuel resources used in manufacturing, from sources like coal, oil, and natural gas

  • Water use: the amount of water removed from local environments because of manufacturing, also factoring in differences of water availability between regions

  • Water pollution: the amount of excess nutrient emissions, which can lead to harmful algal blooms and dead zones in bodies of water

Forest Stewardship Council

FSC has developed rigorous procedures and standards to evaluate whether organizations of certifiers (certification bodies) can provide independent and competent evaluation (certification) services.

Cradle to Cradle

Cradle to Cradle Certified® is the global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made. They assesses the safety, circularity and responsibility of materials and products across five categories of sustainability performance:

Material Health: ensuring materials are safe for humans and the environment

Product Circularity: enabling a circular economy through regenerative products and process design

Clean Air & Climate Protection: protecting clean air, promoting renewable energy, and reducing harmful emissions

Water & Soil Stewardship: safeguarding clean water and healthy soils

Social Fairness: respecting human rights and contributing to a fair and equitable society

Apart from these certifications, there are many more that are associated with Amazon Products and supply chain.
